Various leaflets are available free of charge for your information to provide you with a better understanding of various conditions and treatments that the Physiotherapy Rehabilitation Centre manages and offers. Orthotics

Orthotics may be required to offer support or stability to a joint or structure as part of your rehabilitation. There are many companies that offer these products, and at the Physiotherapy Rehabilitation Centre you will have the opportunity to scrutinize these prior to ordering. e.g. Joint supports and braces, Heel raises, Garment applicators.

Garments

There are many companies providing garments for support, and for the reduction and maintenance of lymphoedema. Garments can be purchased 'ready-to-fit' or can be specially 'made-to-measure'. There are also many variations to the garments e.g. open/closed toes, grip tops, shoulder caps etc. Some companies now offer a variety of colours on some of their lower limb garments, and there are patterned tights available as well. You will be carefully assessed and a garment chosen in collaboration with yourself. A limited stock is also available on FP10 from your GP. e.g. Sleeves, Gloves/mits, Below knee tights/socks, Thigh length tights/stockings, Pantyhose.

Aloe Vera

Often called the ’Miracle Plant’ or the ’Natural Healer’, Aloe Vera is a plant of many surprises.  Ancient records show that the benefits of Aloe Vera have been known for centuries, its therapeutic advantages and healing properties have survived more than 5000 years.

Aloe Vera is a succulent. When the plant is mature at 4 or 5 years old the contents of its leaves - a reservoir of sap and gel can be harvested, preserved and bottled as a nutritional drink, or combined with other ingredients to produce topical lotions and creams to nourish and improve the skin.
